Almost a year after his first appearance on Dana Whites Contender Series, Brandon Lewis has been granted another shot at securing a spot on the most prestigious roster in the sport, the UFC.

Brandon Lewis Talks Upcoming DWCS Bout vs Daniel Marcos

In July 2013 Brandon ‘Let’s Go’ Lewis found himself across the cage from Dylan Sieng at OO Fights 24 as he prepared to make his amateur debut. After just 1 minute at 45 of the very first round, Lewis sunk in a Rear – Naked – Choke and established himself as a future prospect in the bantamweight division.

After 9 years as a martial artist, Lewis has collected a remarkable professional record of 6-1. His most recent outing came just one month ago at B2 Fighting Series where due to heavy leg kicks, his opponent Taylor Moore was unable to make the 3rd and final round.

However, this won’t be his first shot on Dana Whites Contender Series. Almost a year ago to the day, the 24 – year – old fell short on the judges scorecards against Mo Miller.

Lewis believes his first fight at the UFC Apex will give him enough confidence to get him over the line this Tuesday:

“The first time around was such an amazing experience. The UFC treat you really well and whoever has come up as an amateur will notice the jump up in treatment”

“Having that experience last year, although I wasn’t very happy with my performance, fighting on UFC Fight Pass and in front of Dana White, will give me bundles of confidence against Daniel Marcos”

“I learned a lot from the fight itself and then also the experience with the UFC, I can’t wait to try it again.”

However, standing in his way of a UFC contract is one of the hottest undefeated prospects in South America. Fighting out of Peru, Daniel Marcos holds a 12-0 professional record and lays claim to the Sparta FC bantamweight strap.

Despite holding gold, ‘Soncora’ hasn’t fought in 3 years. Inactivity is something that Lewis knows about all too well:

“Like Daniel, there was a point in my career where I was inactive from fighting for 3 and a half years due to injury but when I came back, I was better than I ever was before. There were kinks and a little bit of ring rust but overall, I came back stronger”

“I feel if you come back hungry enough and you always have the forward thinking mindset that you’re always improving no matter what, you will come back better.”

“So although he’s been out for 3 years, I’m expecting him to bring a tough fight”

If you are looking for a reason to tune into Dana Whites Contender Series on Tuesday night, Lewis gives you a preview of what you can look forward to in his 15 minute slot:

“Every second is violence. Every minute and second I’m in there, im going to try and finish my opponent”

“Whether it’s a knockout or submission, I try to put a definitive stop to my fights. I don’t believe in leaving the decision up to the judges”

You can catch Brandon Lewis fighting for a contract on Dana Whites Contender Series live on UFC Fight Pass this Tuesday.
