USW Women’s 1sts coach Katheryn Morgan, was critical but satisfied with her teams’ performance after a 0-0 draw to Coleg y Cymoedd.

Morgan said: “Playing the FAW national academy is very good opposition, they’re young players, they’re very keen and very fit and I think that it was a little bit difficult for us today after our 5-week break over Christmas and it’s what we needed”

“I think we were quite poor in the first half and shape wise we weren’t taking responsibility for our defensive duties”

“in the 2nd half after a stern talking too, I think we improved quite significantly so for us going forward it’s a great fixture”

She added: “the girls have had 5 weeks off; I did give them a fitness programme over Christmas but I’m not sure how many of them did it”

“for us now we have 3 league games left that we have to win, and I do believe we will do that, and I do believe we will win this league and then obviously it’s about mentality and desire to win the play-off game”

Asked if there were any improvements to be made in training, Morgan said:

“oh, absolutely yeah, I think decision making on the ball. So many times, our midfield were a little bit timid in wanting the ball and you have to want to receive it in the central midfield because that’s the engine”

“We were a little bit too reluctant to take responsibility in that area, so in the next session we will be doing a lot of ball in receiving the ball and positively making the correct decisions”
